local community is proven in the numbers.
OLOL Blood Bank: The staff of EHCC have blood
drives for the OLOL Blood Bank every year. For eleven years,
we have been awarded the "Most Outstanding Governmental
Agency" Award for our outstanding contribution to this
cause. The staff of EHCC is proud to have recieved this honor
and strive harder every year to save lives in our community.
EHCC Christmas Parade: In our continuous efforts to
bond with the surrounding community, EHCC sponsors an annual
Christmas Parade for the local residents. Local businesses are
invited to participate and the residents of St. Gabriel and
surrounding areas enjoy a festive family oriented parade
complete with beads and candy each December.
Local Headstart Program: Realizing the importance
of reaching children early and giving them the fundamentals
they need to succeed, EHCC staff has "adopted" the
East Iberville Headstart program. Our assistance to this
program includes financial support for school field trips;
annual visits from Santa (complete with gifts donated by the
Offender Organizations), Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween
Trick-or-Treating.
Civic/School Tours: It is the policy of Elayn Hunt
Correctional Center to encourage community involvement by
permitting civic leagues, church groups, schools, college
classes and public organizations/agencies access to tour the
facility. The primary purpose of these tours is to portray an
accurate and realistic account of prison life at EHCC. Special
tours can also be requested for target risk groups. Please
